Derek Jeter and Hannah Jeter are now officially parents of three.
The couple welcomed their third child, a baby girl, on Thursday. The news was confirmed by the MLB great’s website The Players’ Tribune on Twitter Saturday.
"Congratulations Derek and @hannahbjeter on the birth of your baby girl, River Rose Jeter, born Thursday, Dec. 2," the tweet read.
Several netizens immediately reacted to the announcement congratulating the new parents. Many of them expressed their joy and welcomed the couple's newest family member. Several were also surprised because they were not aware that Hannah was pregnant.
"Aww congrats on another girl," one commented with two red hearts emoji.
"Wow congratulations I didn’t know you were expecting again," another wrote.
"Welcome to the world River Rose! We’re so happy you’re here!" a third user added.
"Congratulations to Derek and Hannah on baby girl number 3 River Rose," a fourth wrote.
Others also speculated that the baby was born via surrogacy because Hannah did not look pregnant during her latest sighting.
"I don’t remember her looking pregnant at the BHOF Induction Ceremony," one wrote.
"I think the child was born via surrogacy but not sure," another added.
"That’s what I heard," a third netizen commented with a woman shrugging emoji.
Hannah, 31, was last spotted three months ago with their two daughters, Bella Raine, 4, and Story Grey, 2. The trio attended Jeter's National Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony. During the sighting, the Sports Illustrated model didn't look pregnant.
Meanwhile, Jeter dedicated his Hall-of-Fame speech to his wife and daughters.
"To my girls, Hannah, Bella and Story: This day puts an exclamation point on my playing career, which was my first dream," he said while on stage as Page Six quoted. "Through you all and with you all, I’m living another one."
He continued, "Bella and Story: I want you to know that your dad was far from perfect. I made my fair share of mistakes on and off the field. But through it all, I tried to do the right thing. I found something I was passionate about and I worked harder than anyone else. I didn’t take any shortcuts to achieve it."
Jeter also added that he has zero regrets in his career, but he felt sad because his kids did not witness his journey. The professional baseball shortstop retired after the 2014 season. Even if he is no longer active on the field, Jeter vowed to share his story with his children.
"What I will share is my story. Most of it won’t be what I accomplished on the field. It’s going to be the lessons I learned off of it. I hope I always make you proud," he concluded.
