Derick Dillard Posts Sweet Family Photo Following Reports He Could Have Died During Mission Trip
Jill Dillard’s latest blog post had fans a little worried about her husband, Derick Dillard, but it looks like he’s doing just fine. Derick took his Instagram page to share a cute family photo following reports that he had a near-death experience during a bad thunder storm in Central America.
On Monday, Derick shared an image of him, Jill and their son Israel posing for a photo together. “I love my fam,” he wrote in the caption, urging his followers to read their latest blog post about their mission trip in El Salvador.
In the post, written by Jill, she revealed that her husband came pretty close to being electrocuted during a recent rain storm. “As we mentioned in our last update, we are in the middle of a rainy season here in Central America, which means there are usually rain showers every day or every other day at some point,” she wrote. “A couple of weeks ago, it was raining pretty hard and Derick had just finished dropping people off at church and was headed back to the house when a friend stopped to talk with him.”
The former “19 Kids & Counting” star said that while Derick and his friend were talking outside a lightning bolt struck a tree near their home knocking the friend to the ground. Jill said afterwards while discussing the scary ordeal with friends she realized that things could have gone horribly wrong if it wasn’t for Derick’s friend stopping him. “Had this friend not stopped Derick to talk with him, Derick could’ve been walking through water as he headed to our house and could’ve been electrocuted by the lightening [sic] through the water on the ground,” she explained. “We praised God for keeping him safe and thank each of you for praying for us!”
At the end of her update, Jill revealed that she and her family will be heading home for a “little while” later this month. Jill and Derick’s return will be their first trip back to the U.S. in 10 months.
A few weeks ago the couple updated fans again on their trip revealing that they had celebrated their second wedding anniversary by giving each other handwritten notes. In Derick’s message he talked about falling more in love with Jill every day, and listed a few reasons why he’s grateful for her. “I’m thankful for your love for the Lord & desire to live for Him, even it means living in Central America to tell others about the saving power of Jesus Christ,” he wrote. “I love your fun-loving personality and creativity. I love your open-mindedness as well as your eternal perspective on life. But, most of all, I love you because you are you!”
In Jill’s note she said she was the “most blessed girl in the world.” She added: “It doesn’t seem like it’s already been 2 years since our wedding day! You’re my BEST FRIEND & I couldn’t ask for a more devoted, loving, faithful, wonderful, protective, supportive hubby!”
