‘Descendants 3’ Spoilers: Disney Reveals Hades’ New Look; See ‘Hercules’ Villain
“Descendants 3” fans got a special Valentine’s Day treat. Disney Channel revealed what Hades will look like.
The animated poster reveals that the live-action version, played by Cheyenne Jackson, is a little different from the animated “Hercules” villain. Hades’ clothes have been updated to include a studded leather jacket, and it looks like his skin will be a more natural color rather than blue.
He does, however, have Hades’ trademark blue hair. Of course, “Descendants 3” can’t actually have flames on his head. It looks like his locks have just been styled to stick up in a way that’s reminiscent of the cartoon.
The “Descendants” Twitter account promises more first looks will be revealed through the #D3Deets hashtag.
Jackson told People that Hades isn’t just a straight-up villain. “He’s lived a lot of life, and he has a lot to prove. And the character isn’t so cut and dried. There is some grey area, and that’s why it’s so fun to play him,” the actor explained.
It seems Jackson didn’t just get inspiration from 1997’s “Hercules.” He says Hades is also inspired by an “80s ex-rocker God guy,” and that comes through in his costume.
It isn’t clear how Hades will factor into the story, but he’ll join plenty of returning stars. Reprising their roles are Dove Cameron as Mal, Sofia Carson as Evie, Booboo Stewart as Jay, Mitchell Hope as King Ben, Cameron Boyce as Carlos, China Anne McClain as Uma, Thomas Doherty as Harry and Dylan Playfair as Gil. In addition, Sarah Jeffery will return as Audrey after being absent in “Descendants 2.”
The “Descendants” franchise, which launched in 2015, follows the children of Disney’s most infamous villains, like Maleficent, Ursula and more. It isn’t clear if Hades will also have a child in the threequel.
“Descendants 3” premieres this summer on Disney Channel.
