‘Designated Survivor’ Series Premiere Released Online; What Will Happen In Season 1, Episode 1? [VIDEO]
ABC’s new fall TV series “Designated Survivor” stars “24” alum Kiefer Sutherland as a lower-level cabinet member who suddenly finds himself as the President of the United States of America after a devastating bomb detonates during the State of the Union address kills all the cabinet members.
Arguably one of the most anticipated new TV shows in 2016, “Designated Survivor” seems promising since it combines action, drama, suspense and politics to produce a engaging thriller.
ABC released the official synopsis of Season 1, episode 1 which states that Kirkman will struggle to keep the country and his own family from falling apart, while navigating the highly volatile political arena and leading the search to find who is responsible for the attack.
Kirkman is a low-ranking cabinet member. Hence many White House officials aren’t comfortable with him taking on the presidency during a crisis. The promo video (posted above) hints that several officials will voice their concerns during this time.
However, it’s a good thing has ample family support. “Designated Survivor” also stars Natascha McElhone as Tom’s wife, Alex Kirkman, Adan Canto will play Aaron Shore, Italia Ricci stars as Emily Rhodes, LaMonica Garrett stars as Mike Ritter and Kal Penn plays Seth Wright. Maggie Q will help Kirkman catch the perpetrator in her role as FBI Agent Hannah Wells.
ABC released a fresh batch of episodic photos that depict Sutherland’s character taking an oath before taking on the President’s job, talking to his wife, and getting ready for the cameras before making an announcement. Furthermore, there are pictures of the FBI conducting their investigations at the scene of the crime.
Catch the series premiere of “Designated Survivor” on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC. For more info on the series, head to the ABC.come site here.
