Did MTV Fake ‘Teen Mom 2’ Kailyn & Javi Abuse?
“Teen Mom 2” is one of MTV’s biggest shows.
The girls of the show got their start on “16 and Pregnant” and then the cameras continued to follow them on “Teen Mom 2.”
Controversy surrounds the show, with some critics claiming that MTV is exploiting typically impoverished young girls and glamorizing teen pregnancy to some naïve viewers.
According to The Clicker, Kailyn Lowry never hit her boyfriend (and now husband) Javi Marroquin the way the show portrayed it in the trailer for the coming forth season.
In the clip Lowry screams at Marroquin and gets physical with him, which ultimately caused him to walk out on her.
Fans of the show were shocked when they saw the footage, and were wondering if she would be facing domestic violence charges like “Teen Mom” bad girl Amber Portwood.
But Lowry’s friend Lex Lopez told The Clicker that MTV made her look like a hot-headed abuser even though that wasn’t the case.
She saw the incident first hand and explained:
"She never hit him. She pushed him out of frustration and was instantly sorry for her actions.
"That day there were 14 people in Kail’s tiny house, including an eight-person camera crew. It was so hectic and Kail was very frustrated and she just lost it for a minute.
"Javi forgave her that day, even though MTV tries to make it look like he leaves the house after the incident. In fact, he went outside to go help his parents fix Kail’s car."
But MTV maintains that the footage is real and true to the event as it happened.
"This is a docu-series and the scenes shown are accurate portrayals of each young woman’s story – the trailer includes a confrontation that took place between Kailyn and Javi, and shows her expressing her feelings about it," an MTV spokesperson told The Clicker. "Viewers will see this event unfold later in the season."
“Teen Mom 2” is currently airing on MTV every Monday at 10/9c.
