Meghan Markle is a popular advocate for animal rights. Due to this, Prince Harry didn’t join the royal family in a grouse hunt last summer. The Duke of Sussex also skipped Boxing Day last year for unclear reasons. Many believed that he didn’t want to upset the Duchess of Sussex. However, things are different this time around.

Daily Mail royal correspondent Richard Eden revealed that Markle was happy for Prince Harry to continue shooting with the rest of the members of the Firm. He has been doing this since he was 12. Palace sources also denied that Markle banned her husband from participating in this activity.

On Wednesday, the royals went on with their planned traditional Boxing Day shoot and Prince Harry was there. The expectant dad reportedly didn’t stop shooting. In fact, the couple acquired a black labrador puppy to be a gun dog.

“[Harry] is a very good shot. Not only that, he is a great figure in supporting those who work in that industry,” David Rober-Curzon, Lord Teynham’s son and heir said.

According to an insider, Markle is very keen in promoting wildlife charities and animal conservation. However, her husband, Prince Harry, believes that shooting is a sustainable field sport.

There were also claims suggesting that Princess Diana didn’t support bloodsports. Contrary to reports, the late Princess of Wales once shot a stag at Balmoral. She also didn’t object to her sons’ participation in the sports. She even reportedly referred to them jokingly as the “killer Wales.”

Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton were slammed for bringing Prince George to his first grouse hunting last summer. Many were concerned that the 5-year-old royal would grow up without compassion to animals.

A number of netizens are against the bloodsports. Some were even disappointed that the family has to kill animals to have fun.

In related news, Prince William, Middleton, Markle and Prince Harry reunited on Tuesday for the royals’ annual Christmas Day service in Sandringham despite their rumored rift. However, according to body language expert Judi James, the “friendly” reunion between the two duchesses was just for the cameras.
