Did Rachel Roy Diss Beyoncé? Fans Lash Out At Fashion Designer Following ‘Lemonade’ Premiere
Beyoncé fans are convinced they know who “Becky with the good hair” is. During Saturday’s HBO premiere of “Lemonade,” the singer alluded to being cheated on by her husband Jay Z. Throughout the hourlong special, Beyoncé sang about how the affair almost ruined her marriage and at one point hinted at who the other woman was.
During the Apathy portion of “Lemonade,” which featured lyrics from her song “Sorry,” the 34-year-old singer said: “So what are you gonna say at my funeral now that you’ve killed me? Here lies the body of the love of my life whose heart I broke without a gun to my head … Rest in peace my true love, who I took for granted … Her Heaven will be a love without betrayal. Ashes to ashes, dust to side chicks.” It ended with Beyoncé saying, “he better call Becky with the good hair.”
A few hours after “Lemonade” aired, Rachel Roy posted a photo of her friend taking a picture in a mirror with the caption: “Good hair don’t care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always. Live in the light #nodramaqueens.”
Beyoncé fans immediately speculated that the fashion designer, 42, was taking jabs at the “Formation” singer and flooded the comments section of the photo with lemon and bee emojis. Roy’s name also started trending on Twitter Sunday morning as people shared their thoughts on the situation.
While it’s not clear who “Becky with the good hair” really is, Roy was accused of getting a little too close to Jay Z during a Met Gala after-party in 2014. It was reported at the time that the designer’s supposed flirtations with the rapper is what led to the elevator fight with Jay Z and Solange.
According to E! Online, sources said Roy was “being flirtatious with Jay” at the gala and “once everyone was at the Boom Boom Room for the after-party, her flirtations were elevated.” The outlet reported that Beyoncé and Solange approached Roy about her behavior shortly before the elevator incident.
