KEY POINTS

  • Elijah Moore is set to return to action in Week 8 despite making a trade request
  • Robert Saleh may have plans for Moore this season
  • The Jets need Moore and other players to step up to ensure their receiving corps can hold up

Elijah Moore of the New York Jets is reportedly set to rejoin his teammates soon in Week 8 when they face the New England Patriots.

The left wide receiver was spotted on the bench in Week 7 when the Jets won over the Denver Broncos, 16-9.

However, it appears that his absence will no longer continue.

No less than Jets coach Robert Saleh said that Moore was in the facility on Monday, October 24 and backed this up by saying that they are not alienating the 22-year-old NFL player or moving him off the side.

It will be recalled in a previous report here on the International Business Times that the former Ole Miss Rebel requested a trade to another team, but New York was not obliging.

"You know what, that conversation is going to be more organic," Saleh said at a press conference held last Monday. "I don't have a plan for the conversation. I know the type of young man he is. I've already said it. I look forward to him continuing to find ways to get better and help this football team."

The Jets are looking for other players to step up, especially after the season-ending injury to running back Breece Hall.

The Jets rookie was injured in that Week 7 matchup with the Broncos after taking a hit on a running play.

Tests revealed that he suffered a torn ACL and a meniscus injury per multiple reports.

Looking ahead, Moore is one of the players who could step up and get the playing time he has been aching for.

Moore grew frustrated for not getting ample playing time.

Particularly against the Green Bay Packers, the Florida native was targeted just once despite the fact the Jets threw 18 times against the Packers.

Zach Wilson was only able to complete ten of those 18 passes. This led to a social media post by Moore, airing his frustrations.

"If I say what I really wanna say, I'll be the selfish guy. We winning. Grateful! Huge blessing! All I ever wanted. Bittersweet for me them, but I'll be solid. So I'll just stay quiet. Just know I don't understand either," Moore posted on Twitter after the Jets win over the Packers, 27-10.

With Moore possibly suiting up anew, it will be interesting if Saleh will indeed give him an opportunity on the football field.
