Dish Network’s Sling TV is a great way for cord cutters to watch the hot TV shows via its online streaming TV service. Though it hasn’t included access to local channels that you receive over-the-air.

There have been reports that Dish Network is launching its own TV tuner box called “AirTV Player,” which is now on Sling TV’s website. The device will provide local TV channels over-the-air through a digital antenna, which is combined with Sling TV’s streaming service and Netflix.

Spotted by Dave Katz of Katz Not Funny!, who has been keeping AirTV Player’s progress throughout the year. In fact, just this summer, Katz discovered a product listings page for the new player on Amazon.

“A Learn More” button on Sling TV’s landing page for AirTV, will automatically redirect visitors to the AirTV website.

The AirTV Player is a device that will solve the problem of gaining access to local channels - which has been printing consumers from cutting the cord.

Since you’ll be able to access local channels for free over-the-air via an antenna, this means Sling has been negotiating on rights with different broadcasters. Sling TV’s AirTV Player offers a Broadcast Extra streaming package that offers local programming from ABC to Sling Orange Subscribers. It also offers Fox in select markets as part of its Sling Blue service.

According to the AirTV landing page notes, you’ll be able to watch Netflix from the device.

“With the AirTV Player, cut the cord and keep the TV experience,” the website reads. “You’ll have a single platform for watching Sling TV, Netflix, local channels, and more. Plus, one easy-to-use remote with voice support for your AirTV Player, local OTA channels, and sound system,” it says.

It looks like the company is getting ready to introduce the AirTV Player at CES 2017.
