DJ Diplo Shares Chat Screenshots Amid Sexual Assault Allegations: 'She Was An Obsessed Fan'
Thomas Wesley Pentz, who is popularly known as DJ Diplo, has denied sexual assault and rape allegations leveled against him Wednesday and shared a series of screenshots on social media to share his side of the story.
The Los Angeles-based DJ and songwriter took to Instagram and posted the screengrabs showing the accuser incessantly texting him.
"I will keep this story easy to read because I know the internet has a short attention span," the 42-year-old artist wrote in the post. He further said that his goal is to never "address a stalker" and referred to the accuser as "SA" throughout the post.
“She was an obsessed fan of mine, and after I relinquished all contact with her, it appears that her only purpose in life has been to disrupt my work, my business, harass me and my close friends and attack me and threaten my family,” he added.
Diplo also clarified that SA was "not a minor" and admitted to having "consensual sex with her."
He noted that after she reached out to him multiple times, he agreed to meet her. They exchanged texts, photos and videos for a couple of months that involved "small talk and sexual flirting."
The DJ explained that he stopped interacting with her after realizing that was obsessed with him and then the "nightmare" began for him. He alleged that she harassed him, his family and friends for three years.
"I will continue to do everything I can to end this in the most respectful way but will not give in to lies and harassment," he concluded the post.
"Here’s a story about how a stalker scammed her way into my life and tried to extort me for millions and then sued me when she didn’t get what she wanted," the caption of the post read.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles city attorney’s office told BuzzFeed News that Diplo might face criminal charges after the police investigation.
In 2020, a woman named Shelly Auguste claimed that Diplo distributed her private videos and scared her into silence. In the same year, rapper Azealia Banks also claimed that the DJ helped her at the age of 17 in exchange for sexual favors.
On the work front, Diplo was last featured in a music video, "Major Lazer," which was released on March 26.
