Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are believed to be not on good terms with President Donald Trump.
Recent reports claimed that Prince Harry and Markle have already moved to the U.S. after Canada declined to pay for their security. Now that they’re in America, they need the POTUS’ approval to enjoy the diplomatic protection. However, Trump already denied it to them in an announcement on Twitter when he wrote, “They must pay.”
Over two years ago, the former “Suits” star appeared on “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore” and Markle said that if Trump would beat Hillary Clinton, she would move to Canada.
“It’s really the moment I go,” Markle said. “We film ‘Suits’ in Toronto and I might just stay in Canada.”
When asked about Markle’s statement, Trump implied that the duchess was “nasty.”
“I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty,” Trump said.
In 2019, Trump also said that Markle should toughen up and should not take criticisms ”very personally.” Trump said it after the Duchess of Sussex complained about the excessive attention and criticisms they received from the media.
When Trump visited the U.K. in June last year, the Queen prepared a state banquet for the U.S. politician. Markle skipped the event because she was still on maternity leave as she just gave birth to her son Archie in May of the same year.
Prince Harry showed up at the event but many criticized the duke because he looked “grumpy” and “rude.” Even royal expert Ingrid Seward had the same observation about the duke’s disposition at the occasion and she believed it was due to Trump calling his wife “nasty.”
“Harry did look grumpy and as if he didn’t want to be there,” Seward said.
“Whatever his personal feelings, it’s his duty to support the Queen regardless and take a tip from his grandmother who has never allowed her personal feelings to interfere with her duty. It’s bad manners and rude,” Seward added.
Also, when Trump visited the “Deal or No Deal” set where Markle was among the briefcase girls, she reportedly distanced herself from him. “Meghan was one of the girls who gave him a wide berth,” royal biographer Andrew Morton wrote in his 2018 book “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess.”
