‘Downton Abbey’ Season 6 Spoilers: Episode 2 Synopsis And Photos Released
“Downton Abbey” might be coming to an end, but the drama is far from over. In Season 6, episode 2, both the upstairs and downstairs residents will find themselves in some trouble, according to the synopsis.
The staff will have plenty of problems outside of work. Mrs. Hughes (Phyllis Logan) and Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) affirmed their love for each other after an awkward sex talk in episode 1, and Mrs. Hughes decided they should set a wedding date. But they’ll “hit a snag” while planning. An unwanted wedding planner might step in, but Mrs. Hughes will have to find a way to turn down her services.
Other servants are worried about their futures too. Barrow (Rob James-Collier) expressed concerns that he might be the first to be let go if Robert (Hugh Bonneville) decides to downsize. He “gets a hint” in this episode, but it isn’t clear which way that hint will point. Should Barrow start packing his bags or stop worrying?
Meanwhile, Anna (Joanne Froggatt) is seeing if she can have the future she always wanted. “Anna has a secret appointment,” the synopsis reveals. Anna is likely heading to the doctor to see if her miscarriages mean that she can never have children. Hopefully, she won’t have her heart broken again.
The upstairs family has their own problems. Edith (Laura Carmichael) takes a trip with Marigold that won’t go well. “Pigs lead to trouble for Edith and Marigold,” the synopsis teases. The girls go to the Drewe farm, where Marigold was temporarily raised. Edith and Mrs. Drewe (Emma Lowndes) never got along, but what kind of problems could the farmer’s wife create for Edith?
Meanwhile, Edith’s grandmother will still be fighting for the hospital. Violet (Maggie Smith) and Isobel (Penelope Wilton) have different ideas for the future of the local hospital, and they won’t see eye to eye any time soon. They’ll “lock horns over healthcare” once again.
