Dr. Drew Speaks Out On Mindy McCready's Death After Singer Allegedly Shot Dog Before Apparent Suicide
Country star Mindy McCready’s body was found Sunday at her northern Arkansas home after an apparent suicide, but that’s not the only lifeless body authorities found when investigating the “Celebrity Rehab” star’s home.
In a twisted tale of modern-day star-crossed lovers, McCready is believed to have killed herself on the same porch where her boyfriend David Wilson reportedly turned the gun on himself a month ago.
But the killing doesn’t stop there.
Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss told Fox News on Monday that it seemed McCready killed Wilson's dog before ultimately killing herself. He said the dog's body was found next to McCready's at her home in Heber Springs, a vacation community about 65 miles north of Little Rock.
Fox reports police believe the 37-year-old singer’s death to be a suicide, but have yet to officially determine it as such.
McCready had a long struggle with alcohol and pill addiction.
Dr. Drew Pinsky, who treated McCready during the fifth season of his “Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew” has spoken out on the matter.
In a statement obtained by Buzzfeed, he expressed his sadness and called McCready "a lovely woman who will be missed by many."
Pinsky also talked about the country star to CNN. He said he tried to contact her after her boyfriend died.
"When I heard she was struggling, I did reach out to her and urged her to go to take care of herself, get in a facility if she felt she needed," he said. "Her biggest fear was the stigma of doing so and what people would think if she, God forbid, took care of herself. And this to me is the most distressing part of this story. She is a lovely woman, we have lost her, and it didn't have to go down like this."
