'Dragon Quest: Heroes' Gets New Overview Trailer, Details Characters And Gameplay Mechanics
“Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and The Blight Below” comes out this month and a new overview trailer was released to inform fans about the game’s characters and gameplay mechanics. King Doric, who just happens to be one of the game’s many playable characters, narrates the video and his enthusiasm makes the trailer an engaging watch.
Right off the bat, Doric explains the game’s main conflict: the monsters that once lived peacefully with humans have been cursed and are now attacking people left and right. It will be up to the game’s fairly large cast to defeat the monsters and find the source of their corruption, while also tangling with a number of classic “Dragon Quest” bosses from previous games.
While the game is very action-oriented, there are many roleplaying elements as well. According to Gematsu, players can form a part of four in the game’s various missions. Each character plays differently, so the player has to choose each party member wisely, depending on the situations that they will face in each mission.
Other roleplaying elements include the ability to upgrade the heroes and their equipment, as well as buying new weapons and stat-increasing orbs when the going gets tough. Players can also unlock new skills and techniques when they level up and accessories can be forged in stores for an extra advantage in battle.
Despite being developed by Omega Force and boasting a similar combat system, the game is not a “Dynasty Warriors” clone, according to Forbes. One of the main reasons for this might be the game’s director Yuki Horii, since the man has been responsible for managing the “Dragon Quest” games since the 1980’s.
Fans excited about the game won’t have to wait much longer, as “Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and The Blight Below” comes out on Oct. 13 for North America and Oct. 16 for Europe.
The game will be available for the PlayStation 4 in multiple editions, including a regular version of the game and a collector’s edition. Both of these versions can be pre-ordered from most major retail outlets and the online Square Enix store.
