Drew Barrymore has backed up Lucy Liu’s story about a nasty fight with Bill Murray on the set of “Charlie’s Angels.”

The 46-year-old Hollywood star dished on what really went down between Liu, 52, and Murray, 71, when all three worked together on the hit action movie back in 2000. During Tuesday’s episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show,” the host confirmed that her co-actors really had an argument and that she chose to stand by Liu at the time after seeing what happened.

“Lucy is out there right now talking about her instance with Bill Murray. Do you want to know what happened? Do you want me to spill the tea?” Barrymore first teased in the episode before recalling the events that took place that day.

“What really happened was Bill was just in a — you know, comedians can be a little dark sometimes — and he just came in in a bad mood,” the actress-turned-talk-show-host was quoted as saying by New York Post.

She continued, “What you have to know is how much Lucy stood up for herself and that was the great thing that came out of an unfortunate circumstance. She literally said, ‘I do not accept that kind of behavior from you.’ And we all supported her and backed her up and we moved forward.”

Barrymore went on to reveal that after Liu publicly addressed the incident during a podcast interview in July, she quickly reached out to her friend and former co-star to inform her that she had made a video to back up Liu’s claims. However, the “Elementary” actress turned down her offer saying she didn’t need it, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

When Liu detailed the feud between her and Murray, she said it happened while they were rehearsing for a scene that was reworked after the actor took a break from filming due to a family gathering.

According to Liu, Murray allegedly hurled some insults and “kept going on and on.” She initially thought her co-star was directing his words to everyone on set but soon realized he was “looking straight at” her.

Liu mustered the courage to stand up to Murray, and they had a verbal exchange because the latter allegedly used “inexcusable and unacceptable” language when he attacked her.

Barrymore confirmed that Murray “zeroed in on” Liu. She then complimented Liu for standing up for herself when she was disrespected in the workplace. “I respected her then, I respect her now,” she added.

Liu and Murray’s on-set clash resulted in the latter being replaced by Bernie Mac in the 2003 sequel “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.” Despite what happened, Liu has clarified that she and Murray have already moved on from their feud, and they even had a friendly encounter when they bumped into each other during a “Saturday Night Live” taping.
