KEY POINTS
- The Connected MoonBike app available on iOS or Android devices
- The app lets riders monitor their trails and altitude and connect with other MoonBikers
- It also allows users keep track of various aspects of their rides
MoonBikes, the French startup founded in late 2018 with the aim to revolutionize the snow mobility market by introducing the world's first-ever electric snowbike, unveiled the Connected MoonBike app at this year's Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
The Connected MoonBike app, available on iOS or Android devices, adds mobile support to the startup's electric snowbike and allows riders to monitor their trails and altitude and connect with other MoonBikers.
Moreover, the app enables users to keep track of various aspects of their rides such as maps, distance, speed, duration and battery level, to name a few.
Through the app, users can also see fellow MoonBike riders in their area and follow them to check out their personal bestrides, join them on their trail or form a social club for MoonBike riders.
Furthermore, the Connected MoonBike app will reward top riders with bronze, silver and gold medals for their performance. These will be made available on the user's profile page, aside from giving them the ability to unlock badges and re-do tracks.
Through the Connected MoonBike app, users can also leave comments and praises on other users' profile pages or challenge them to a race and other fun activities using their electric snow vehicle.
"MoonBikes is super focused on creating outdoor products that immerse people into their surroundings. MoonBikes are nearly silent, emission-free, and leave virtually no trace in the snow. Thanks to its innovative features, our Connected App brings MoonBikers together to build a community with others who are passionate about the outdoors. The app also provides riders with even greater control of their MoonBikes, thanks to the detailed dashboard which gives real-time data on the MoonBikes' performance," founder Nicolas Muron said in a press release.
The 163-pound electric snow vehicle, which sports the look of a snowmobile and a bike, supports up to 264 pounds of rider's weight and runs on a 3-kilowatt electric motor that flaunts 170 newton-meters of torque with a top speed of 26 miles per hour.
The MoonBike features a track on the rear wheel and a small snowboard instead of a wheel in front.
It also houses a 2.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack that delivers up to 1 hour of use when set in sports mode or 1.5 hours of use when in Eco mode or easy ride.
Recharging MoonBike is easy as users simply need to connect a cable directly to the snowbike or remove the battery and charge it at home for five hours and 45 minutes to charge fully.
