Eli Roth, Lorenza Izzo’s Divorce Statement Starts Amicably But Ends In Frustration
Movie director Eli Roth has filed for divorce from his wife, Chilean actress Lorenza Izzo, according to a joint statement released Monday by the couple on the former’s Instagram account.
“It is with deep love and respect that we are choosing to separate as a couple. We’ve had an incredible journey together, we love each other very much, and will remain the best of friends,” they wrote in an Instagram post.
“We are grateful for the six wonderful years together but have decided to go our own separate ways to have the most fulfilled, joyous lives we can,” the statement added.
Adding that they will continue to support each other and work creatively, the statement said that the duo which collaborated on movies like “The Green Inferno” and “Hemlock Grove” were “ultimately separating so we don’t f-----g kill each other.”
Roth and Izzo were married Nov. 8, 2014, at a beach ceremony in Zapallar, Chile. They do not have any children.
The split came as a surprise since the couple seemed to be in love till only a few months ago. In September 2017, Roth posted a beautiful picture of his wife on Instagram on her birthday.
“Literally no one on the planet happier than me because you were born,” he captioned it, adding, “Feliz cumpleanos @lorenzaizzo Te amo con todo mi corazon,” which translates from Spanish to “Happy birthday Lorenza. I love you with all my heart.”
A few months prior to posting that sweet tribute, Roth and Izzo went on a vacation to Italy where the director clicked and uploaded tons of pictures of his wife, captioning one of them, “My favorite view in Italy.”
Izzo is most well known for her performance as Kylie in the Chilean-American horror film, “Aftershock.” Roth, who wrote the 2012 movie, also made an appearance in it with his wife, Mail Online reported.
Roth also wrote, directed and produced the film “The Green Inferno,” on the set of which the couple incidentally met for the first time. Izzo recently shot the movie “The House with a Clock in its Walls,” with Jack Black and Cate Blanchett, which is directed by Roth. It will hit theaters Sept. 21, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Roth starred in Quentin Tarantino's war film “Inglorious Bastards” in 2009. However, he is best known for directing horror movies such as “Hostel” and “Cabin Fever.”
