Elisabeth Moss seems to be having a lucky streak these days. After winning big at the recently concluded 2017 Emmy Awards, Moss has landed a new leading role.

Moss bagged the best actress trophy at the 2017 Emmy Awards for her role in "The Handmaid's Tale." Following her recognition, it has been revealed that the actress is set to grace the big screen in the abortion drama, "Call Jane," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Moss will be playing Jane, a married woman who gets unexpectedly pregnant and discovers an underground group of women. The screenplay is based on the true story of a 1960s movement called Jane Collective which is written by Hayley Schore and Roshan Sethi. "Call Jane" will be directed by Simon Curtis and will be produced by Robbie Brenner, Jeff Kwatinetz and Kevin McKeon.

"This script [for 'Call Jane'] is commercial and entertaining, but it's also really relevant to what is going on with the world today," Brenner told THR. "Women's rights are important and no one should have the right to control a woman's body. And that such an idea can be challenged today and that we can go back in time on these issues is scary."

In other news, after winning a number of major categories at the 2017 Emmy Awards, Moss shared a photo of herself with Oprah Winfrey on Instagram. "I would like to thank the Academy... for the opportunity to get a hug from @Oprah #emmys #handmaidstale," the actress wrote in the caption.

Moss also shared another photo from the event of herself holding two Emmy trophies. In another snapshot, she posed with her "The Handmaid's Tale" co-stars.

Meanwhile, Moss is a member of the controversial Church of Scientology. She was once asked if there was a time when she felt the need to explain or defend her faith. The actress declined to respond and said that she would rather keep this to herself. "I'm always happy to have a personal conversation with somebody off the record, but in this kind of scenario, no," Moss told Entertainment Tonight.

Moss added that the issues surrounding her religion didn't affect her success in Hollywood. In addition, she stressed that not everything that people hear about Scientology is true.
