Ellen DeGeneres, Portia De Rossi Divorcing After Selling Beach House For $23M?
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have finally gotten rid of their multimillion beach house in Carpinteria, California, but they continue to be plagued by divorce rumors.
On Friday, Variety exclusively revealed that the morning talk-show host and her wife managed to sell their oceanfront retreat house for $23 million, which is just $1 million short of their asking price of $24 million.
DeGeneres and de Rossi purchased the property for $18.6 million back in October 2017. This means they would be assured of earning $4.4 million in profit from the sale of the beach house.
Marketed by Compass broker Suzanne Perkins and Riskin Partners Group at Village Properties, the property was bought by makeup tycoon Jamie Kern Lima and husband Paulo Lima, who agreed to pay in cash.
Jamie and Paulo founded IT Cosmetics in 2008. The beauty brand was sold to L’Oreal for $1.2 billion in 2016, but Jamie remains to be the CEO of the company. Her husband is mostly known for appearing on the pioneer season of “Big Brother” and on “Baywatch” way back in the 1990s.
While Ellen and Portia should be celebrating after sealing the deal, the two of them still need to face the speculations claiming that they could be filing for divorce soon. The couple has been subject to breakup and divorce rumors for years now, and this year is no different.
Based on the latest circulating report, DeGeneres and her actress wife are “barely on speaking terms” after engaging in several fights. Ellen is said to be annoyed by the idea that Portia wants to focus more on her acting career.
As previously reported, DeGeneres is having a hard time adapting to the hectic schedule of de Rossi, who is determined to do more acting gigs. The “Finding Dory” voice actress reportedly does not like it that Portia is not by her side most of the time.
Both DeGeneres and de Rossi have not responded to the latest split rumors. But last year, the “Arrested Development” star had enough of the never-ending speculations about their marriage status that she decided to acknowledge them.
“The divorce rumors came and then we really knew the perceptions had changed. I’m not kidding. I know it sounds ridiculous, but when that started happening I thought, ‘Oh, now we’re finally accepted.’ We get the same s—t as every celebrity couple,” she told Us Weekly in June 2018.
