Ellen DeGeneres shockingly thanked a man named Mark in her acceptance speech at the Golden Globes and even called him her husband.

DeGeners took the stage at the 2020 Golden Globes to accept her Carol Burnett Lifetime Achievement Award but many were surprised with her acceptance speech. DeGeneres didn’t mention her wife Portia de Rossi and instead mentioned her husband Mark and kids Rupert and Fiona.

“Television inspired everything that I am today. All I want to make people do is laugh, and make people feel good, and there is no greater feeling than when people say ... I have helped them through a difficult time,” DeGeneres said.

“That is the power of television and I'm so grateful to be a part of it. I couldn't have done it without my husband Mark. Mark, you are my rock,” she said then continued thanking her children Rupert and Fiona.

It appears that DeGeneres was only joking and was actually referring to de Rossi when she mentioned her husband Mark. The mention of her kids was also part of the comedian’s antics because the couple has no children. DeGeneres was confident that the audience understood her by saying, “Obviously, you all know me or you wouldn’t have laughed at that.”

DeGeneres and de Rossi have been married for 11 years and they are aware of the various rumors about them especially concerning their lack of kids. There were speculations that they were planning to have their own children but de Rossi denied it.

“Oh, I know. I know. Oh, gosh. It’s just one big rumor that doesn’t seem to go away, and at this point, I feel like I’m disappointing the whole of America, not just my mother,” de Rossi said in 2014.

De Rossi also just laughed at the various issues claiming that she’s pregnant, not pregnant, divorced and not divorced. The “Arrested Development” star said that they don’t care about those rumors. De Rossi and DeGeneres’ marriage is going strong. On their 11th wedding anniversary, the comedian called her wife “my favorite person.”
