KEY POINTS

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi still do not have kids and are often plagued by rumors and questions regarding when they plan on having their own child.
On Thursday, the “Ellen Show” host shared an adorable photo featuring a cute baby and a dog on Twitter that once again brought up speculations of her and her wife having children. “Who’s ready to tackle 2020?” she wrote in the caption.
DeGeneres and de Rossi have been married for 11 years now. Since they’ve gotten together, there have been non-stop rumors about them wanting to have a child.
In a previous interview with Jimmy Kimmel, the host asked De Rossi if there was any truth at all to the rumors of them planning on having their own child. DeGeneres’ wife denied the claims and admitted that she felt like she was “disappointing the whole of America” when it came to this.
“Oh, I know. I know. Oh, gosh. It’s just one big rumor that doesn’t seem to go away, and at this point, I feel like I’m disappointing the whole of America, not just my mother,” she said in 2014.
De Rossi and DeGeneres have two young nieces to keep them company, and the “Scandal” actress admitted that they love the youngsters and played games with them. She also complimented her wife Ellen for being a “pretty good aunt to have.”
DeGeneres, on her part, admitted that she loves children. However, she apparently has no plans to have kids of her own. The host sees it as a huge commitment and even joked about the possibility of not liking her child.
“I love kids, but that’s such a big commitment,” DeGeneres said on “Today.”
“It seems long-term. It seems like a commitment that you have to stick with. And I just don’t know if I can — it’s too risky. Like, what if I don’t like the kid? What if it turns out that it’s not as cute as I wanted or as talented? I’m gonna compare it to all these kids that I have on this show that are so smart and so funny. And I’m like, ‘You are nowhere near these kids I had on today,’” she continued.
Matt Lauer, however, advised DeGeneres to “never say never.” He added that the host would make an amazing mom.
However, DeGeneres had another concern. For her, she was getting too old to raise a child. She added that kids are cute but it is still a “no.”
DeGeneres and De Rossi’s marriage has also been plagued with various other rumors. Some claimed that they were splitting, while others reported that they were divorcing. There were also speculations that De Rossi wanted to get pregnant.
But all of these were not true, with De Rossi even commenting that they didn’t care what the tabloids claimed.
