Ellen DeGeneres Shares How She Surprises Wife Portia De Rossi When They’re Apart

Ellen DeGeneres shared what she does to surprise her wife Portia De Rossi when they are apart.

DeGeneres and de Rossi have been married for over 11 years already. Many were very impressed with their relationship because the couple are very affectionate to each other.

On Feb. 13, a day before Valentine’s Day, DeGeneres asked Laure Graham about the most romantic thing she has ever done for anyone. The “Gilmore Girls” star wasn’t sure what to say. DeGeneres helped her think by sharing what she usually does to surprise her wife whenever de Rossi has to go out of town without her.

“Whenever Portia has to go out of town and I'm not with her, I surprise her and I call the hotel and I set it up,” DeGeneres said.

“They put a huge heart-shaped thing of rose petals on her bed. So when she walks into the room, the whole bed is covered with a heart-shaped rose petal.”

In 2012, de Rossi opened up to Oprah Winfrey about the time when she realized that she has fallen in love with DeGeneres. According to her, they met socially and she sensed an immediate draw toward the host. For three years, they saw each other at parties and various events. However, there was one particular incident that made her realize what she felt for DeGeneres. It happened during a photoshoot.

“I just walked over to say hello to her, and I couldn't believe it, but she turned around and it was like an arrow was shot through my heart. I felt weak at the knees and I was overwhelmed with how I felt. But then it took me about 10 months to get the courage up to actually do anything about it,” de Rossi recalled.

In related news, DeGeneres and de Rossi’s marriage has been plagued with divorce rumors. There were claims that they were fighting. Previous reports suggested that they had a falling-out because de Rossi wanted to move to her native country, but the TV presenter signed for another season of her talk show which left the former unhappy.

There were also claims that they had a “bizarre” marriage arrangement to keep their relationship going. However, one should take the report with a grain of salt. DeGeneres and de Rossi’s relationship has always been fine, according to more credible sources.
