Ellen DeGeneres has returned to her show to entertain people despite the coronavirus outbreak.
Several productions in the U.S. were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The producers were forced to halt their taping due to the contagious virus, but many are slowly returning to the small screen by filming at home.
DeGeneres has been making funny phone calls with her celebrity friends including Jennifer Aniston in the past weeks. The TV presenter is visibly bored while stuck at home, but she entertained her followers with her hilarious conversations with her pals.
On Monday, DeGeneres announced that she would be returning soon with a new episode. DeGeneres started the video by applauding the frontliners including the doctors, nurses, hospital staff, first responders, supermarket employees, truck drivers and everyone who continue to work to keep everything going for the majority.
She also gave a heartwarming message to everyone and shared the reason why she wants to be back on her show.
“I wanted to start doing my new show as soon as possible, because it's really for people who are stuck at home, especially my staff and crew,” said DeGeneres.
“I love them. I miss them, and the best thing I can do to support them is keep the show on the air.”
The comedian joked that she was filming from her living room because it has the best lighting and sound. She joked that the rest of the rooms in her house are filled with toilet paper. Portia de Rossi’s wife went on and assured her fans that the show remains the same and it has even become more relevant.
"I've always wanted to have this show as a distraction, as a break from whatever's going on out there that may be unpleasant. So, if you're feeling down, I want to lift you up. If you're feeling trapped, I want to set you free. If you feel like you're going in the wrong direction, I want you to back that thing up,“ DeGeneres continued.
“I want to spread light where there's shade. I want to bring a glow where it's gloomy. I want to stick a candle where the sun doesn't shine.”
Meanwhile, DeGeneres also mentioned that she and de Rossi have been quarantining for three weeks already and this gave them time to talk. In a previous episode of her show, DeGeneres confessed that whenever de Rossi is out of town and she’s not with her, she calls the hotel to set up a surprise for de Rossi.
