Ellie Goulding Joins Selena Gomez, Replaces Rihanna In Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
Ellie Goulding is stepping in after Rihanna cancels Victoria's Secret Fashion Show performance.
Goulding is set to join Selena Gomez and The Weeknd as a performer for this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion show, according to E!News. The “Anything Could Happen” singer will replace Rihanna who had to cancel her appearance for the event, in order to focus on her music and upcoming eight studio album. The Barbadian beauty's album, titled “Anti,” doesn’t have a firm release date yet. Although Rihanna has already released three tracks from the album.
The British singer will instead take Rihanna’s place and promote her new album “Delirium.” The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show won’t be Goulding’s first high-fashion event, according to People magazine. The “Love Me Like You Do” crooner performed during Prince William and Princess Kate’s 2011 wedding, where Goulding sang Elton John’s “Your Song” during the royal couple’s first dance.
Apart from the Victoria's Secret Fashin Show performance, Goulding is also set to go on a world tour for her third album, “Delirium,” which is scheduled for release on Nov 6. The singer announced the North American leg of her concert tour Monday, which will kick off on April 1 next year, Entertainment Weekly reported. The singer will hold more than 35 concert shows beginning April until June 2016.
Several months before Goulding starts her concert tour, the singer is already thinking of how her new music will sound live. Goulding told Entertainment Weekly, “I’ve probably done a thousand shows since my first album, and I realized that with that one I never thought, ‘I wonder how this will sound live?’ Now I can’t help but think of the live aspect, and I understand the translation of music from a studio to a performance.”
Meanwhile, this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion show will feature Victoria’s Secret Angels Candice Swanepoel, Adriana Lima, Behati Prinsloo, Alessandra Ambrosio and Lily Aldridge. They will also be joined by new Angels such as Taylor Hill, Martha Hunt, Kate Grigorieva, Lais Ribeiro, Stella Maxwell, Elsa Hosk, Jac Jagaciak, Sara Sampaio, Jasmine Tookes and Romee Strijd.
Victoria's Secret PINK model Rachel Hilbert is also set to join the show, along with supermodels Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner.
The 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will air on CBS on Dec. 8.
