Ex-porn star Mia Khalifa has put her "infamous" eyeglasses up for auction to help those affected by the devastating Beirut explosion that rocked her home country, Lebanon.
Since Tuesday, Khalifa has been raising awareness regarding the massive blast at the Port of Beirut on her social media platforms, urging her followers to donate and calling out government officials in Lebanon. The social media star went the extra mile on Thursday by auctioning off her glasses on eBay to benefit the Lebanese Red Cross and, in turn, the victims of the explosion.
"The infamous Mia Khalifa glasses – Auction. 100 percent of proceeds will benefit @lebaneseredcross and their tireless efforts in Beirut," Khalifa wrote in a post with a screenshot of the eBay page.
Aside from raising funds, the former adult film star explained that she was auctioning off one of her items to continue spreading awareness about the crisis Lebanon is facing.
"I’m just trying to get creative, there’s always more that can be done and this felt like a cheeky way to raise funds and make sure the conversation and attention doesn’t [sic] diverge from this crisis," Khalifa said, before adding, "Creeps are welcome, your money is just as green as ours!"
Two hours after the auction went live, the bid for Khalifa’s glasses had risen to $2,025. The TikTok star said that she will "sign a Polaroid of me wearing the glasses while I wire transfer the funds."
The item is already at $5,575 four hours after it went up. Khalifa then promised that if the amount reaches $10,000 by morning, she will add a "used single blade razor I shave my sideburns with" in the package she will send to the winner of the bidding.
This comes a day after the former porn star praised model Bella Hadid for sharing information about the Beirut explosion and the Lebanon crisis to her 32 million followers and providing links to where people can donate.
"Bravo. A f---ing leader on how to post this day in age [sic]," Khalifa wrote in her Instagram Story, adding, "Everyone who has ever wanted to look and dress like her has to post like her."
While she gushed over the model's move to spread awareness about Lebanon, Khalifa called the attention of Hollie Woodward, who boasts 930,000 followers on Instagram, for not "reading the room."
"Loving the 64 slides in the same mirror, but there's a humanitarian crisis in dire need of attention in Lebanon currently, and it feels slightly irresponsible not to spread messages of support and resources in a time like this," Khalifa commented. "Especially when we’re all so reliant on social media to stay connected."
