Ex-Porn Star Mia Khalifa's Net Worth And Rise As A TikTok Celebrity

Former porn star Mia Khalifa has been at the center of attention this past week due to her decision to open up about her experiences in the adult entertainment industry.

Khalifa was active in the porn industry only for a period of three months in 2014, and she immediately rose to become one of Pornhub’s most popular performers. She was 21 at the time and made only 11 films, earning a meager $12,000 for her videos.

Since then, she has transformed into a social media influencer, often endorsing products on her social media platforms, as well as an able sports commentator. Today, the 26-year-old is estimated to be worth $3 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Recently, she has also earned a name for herself as a rising TikTok star. As of writing, Khalifa has 8.4 million followers on the platform and has received a total of 59.8 million likes.

Khalifa told Mashable in an interview published last week that she has never really enjoyed social media. Up until a few days ago, the comments section on her Instagram page was turned off because she did not want the negative comments on it to affect her.

"It was awful," she said of the hate she received on Instagram. "It really affected me, even if I put a brave face forward to the public."

But the world of TikTok appears to hold a different appeal.

"As soon as I joined TikTok I found this whole new world where I can actually read the comments, and not feel like I should have them turned off," said Khalifa, adding, "and actually want to engage with the people commenting… they feel like my friends."

Khalifa also made a foray into acting with a stint in Hulu's comedy-drama "Ramy," where she made a guest appearance as herself.

On the show, she muses about how Muslim countries consume the most porn, thus the people attacking her for her sex videos may be the same ones watching them.

Khalifa’s videos created quite a stir due to her wearing a hijab, a headscarf, while performing sex acts. The outrage resulted in the Lebanese-American actress receiving death threats from terror outfit ISIS and fury from numerous Muslims.

According to Khalifa, fury over the hijab porn scene saw her Instagram account being hacked by ISIS sympathizers who posted extremist propaganda on it.
