Famous Harvard Graduates: Malia Obama Shifts Into Ivy League University Dorm

Former President Barack Obama's elder daughter Malia moved into an on-campus residence of the Harvard University on Monday, which will be her home now until 2021. Barack and Michelle were spotted in the Harvard Square area the same day, helping their daughter to shift to her dorm, reports said.

It is still not known what the former first daughter would be studying at the institution; however, she is inclined toward filmmaking and has shown interest in the profession on several occasions, E!Online reported. She completed her high school in 2015 but chose to join Harvard after two years so that she could utilize the widely-encouraged gap year to do some internships.

She worked at the U.S. Embassy in Spain as a summer intern in 2016 after which she went to New York City to intern with the Weinstein Co., a mini-major film studio launched in October 2005 by Bob and Harvey Weinstein — the brother duo who founded Miramax Films in 1979. In 2014, Malia helped Halle Berry on the sets of TV series "Extant," and the next year, she landed a summer internship that gave her an opportunity to work with actress Lena Dunham on the sets of TV series "Girls," according to E!Online.

Interestingly, Malia has followed in the footsteps of her parents — Barack and Michelle — who also graduated from Harvard. From politicians like Franklin D. Roosevelt, Al Gore, Henry Kissinger to celebrities like Natalie Portman and Tyra Banks, Harvard has pumped out many extraordinary individuals over the years. 1. Franklin D. Roosevelt

The only U.S. president to be elected four times, Franklin D. Roosevelt attended Groton School, a prestigious Episcopal preparatory school in Massachusetts. After completing the school in 1900, he joined Harvard University with the aim of making something of himself. He was an average student, but he was the editor of the Harvard Crimson newspaper and received his degree in just three years.

2. William S. Burroughs

American novelist, short story writer, painter, William S. Burroughs belonged to an American Beat Generation, which evolved in the 1950s. Burroughs was best-known for his novel "Naked Lunch.” The book reflected the drug culture, something in which Burroughs was also involved in. He graduated from Harvard with honors, in English, in 1936.

3. Bill O'Reilly

Former Fox News host Bill O'Reilly, who has won several Emmy Awards, also earned a degree from the prestigious university. He was working in the popular "infotainment" program “Inside Edition,” when he decided to study further. He left the show in 1996 and joined Harvard to pursue masters in public administration. He had arned a master of arts degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1973.

4. Elisabeth Shue

The American actress, best known for her roles in movies such as "The Karate Kid," "Adventures in Babysitting", "Cocktail," "Back to the Future Part II," and "Back to the Future Part III," is also a graduate of the Harvard University. However, she studied there off and on until she officially earned her bachelor's degree in political science in 2000, according to biography.com that captures the life-stories of famous people.

5. Natalie Portman

Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman earned her bachelor's degree in psychology in 2003 from the Harvard. She was already working as an actress while pursuing her graduation.

Harvard professors were pleased when they learned about her accomplishments as an actress. Former Harvard Psychology Professor and Dean of the Social Sciences Stephen M. Kosslyn, with whom Portman worked as a research assistant, said: "It was very clear when she was a student that she is a very determined person and capable of focused effort over a sustained period.” He referred to the observation in an e-mailed statement, according to the Harvard Crimson.
