Father Rapes 14-Year-Old Girl Repeatedly, Offers Money In Return

A man in India was arrested for raping his teenage daughter multiple times in the absence of her mother.

The police said Tuesday the incident came to light after the 14-year-old girl revealed her ordeal to her mother, who then filed a complaint accusing her husband of raping their daughter. The shocking incident took place in Gurugram, a city in the state of Haryana.

“The accused was arrested on Monday and booked under the charges of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) at the Manesar women police station. The case is under investigation,” investigating officer Munesh told IANS (Indo-Asian News Service).

The police said a medical test confirmed the girl, who has not been identified, was raped. The victim’s mother told the police she works as a domestic help, and was away working when her husband assaulted their teenage daughter.

“My daughter told me on Monday that her father used to sexually assault her on several occasions in my absence. He also threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone and even told her that he will kill me and my two minor daughters and expel the four of us from the house. Her father had sexually assaulted her on March 19 last,” the victim’s mother told the police, according to News18.

The officer in charge of the case said the accused was arrested from his house and during questioning he confessed to raping his daughter while offering her money.

In another recent incident, a man was taken into custody for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl inside a garbage vat. According to reports, the man bribed her with 3 cents to stay quiet about the incident. The police said the girl was raped while she was playing near her home in Bhopal, a city in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The police arrested the accused after the victim identified him in a photo.

According to a National Crime Records Bureau report released last year, India recorded 88 rape cases every day in 2019. The data also showed the rape vulnerability of a girl or woman increased up to 44% in the last 10 years.
