'Fear The Walking Dead' Season 2 Spoilers: Filming Begins At Ocean Set In Mexico
“Fear the Walking Dead” fans will definitely want to grab a life vest for Season 2. Filming for the highly anticipated second season is currently underway in Baja, Mexico.
AMC made the announcement Thursday that production has begun on the second season of their companion series to the hit show “The Walking Dead.” While “The Walking Dead” is currently on hiatus until 2016, the cast of “Fear the Walking Dead” is preparing to take the plunge into new waters.
“We are thrilled to be starting production and even more thrilled to be shooting in Mexico,” showrunner Dave Erickson said in a press release. “Baja Studios has been home to some of the greatest ocean-set films in recent years and provides all the creative resources we need to begin this new chapter in the ‘Fear’ saga. We couldn’t be happier.”
For those that don’t remember, Season 1 of “Fear the Walking Dead” ended with Strand (Colman Domingo) revealing “Abigail” to Nick (Frank Dillane). But Abigail isn’t Strand’s wife, daughter or friend – Abigail is a very large yacht that is right off the shore from his Los Angeles home.
Details about Season 2 are scarce, but series creator Robert Kirkman previously teased what fans could expect at New York Comic Con in October. Nick and his family have yet to board the yacht with Strand, however Kirkman made it clear that the group will make it to the safe haven. But being in the water doesn’t mean that they are out of harm’s way.
“Just because it’s going to be taking place on the boat doesn’t mean it’s going to be taking place on the boat all the time,” he explained. “There’s a lot of reason to get off the boat.”
“Fear the Walking Dead” Season 2 will premiere on AMC in 2016. Season 2, which will consist of 15 episodes, will also introduce a new character from the web series “Flight 462.” Short installments of the web series currently air during Season 6 of “The Walking Dead.”
