‘Finding Nemo 2’ Spoilers: Ellen DeGeneres Set To Reprise Role As Dory In Sequel

It looks like Ellen DeGeneres will "just keep swimming" to the box office. The comedian and talk show host is reportedly in negotiations to return for the upcoming "Finding Nemo" sequel.

Earlier this summer reports of a "Finding Nemo 2" swam around the web. The rumors of a sequel to the fishy popular movie were fueled by its 3D return. To further fuel the idea of a second "Finding Nemo" film, the Hollywood Reporter claims that DeGeneres is currently working out a deal to reprise her role as Dory, "a blue tang fish who was suffering from short-term memory loss."

"Finding Nemo" was released in 2003, winning an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and becoming the second highest-grossing film of the year, raking in $867.9 million worldwide. The kid (and adult) friendly film even became the best-selling DVD of all time, selling over 40 million copies by 2006. "Finding Nemo" was eventually beat out as the highest-grossing G-rated film of all time by "Toy Story 3" in 2010.

Besides Ellen DeGeneres, director Andrew Stanton is also rumored to be returning to the deep blue sea. Stanton's return was uncertain after the major flop of "John Carter" this year. According to Deadline.com, Stanton is out of the doghouse, with Disney excited for the director, who won an Oscar with "Finding Nemo" and "Wall-E" to return.

No word on whether Alexander Gould, the teen who voiced Nemo and later went on to star as a killer on Showtime's "Weeds," will return for the sequel.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the script is being worked on by Victoria Strouse, while Lindsey Collins produces. "Finding Nemo 2" is expected to be released in 2016.
