'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers: Set Photo Teases Robbie Amell's Return As Earth 2 Firestorm
As Season 2 of "The Flash" was racing towards its winter finale in December, all the buzz from fans was about the new additions to the CW series — Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Kendra "Hawkgirl" Saunders (Ciara Renée), among others. However, as the show readies for its midseason premiere on Jan. 19, it is some old, familiar faces stealing the headlines. First, the promo for the episode revealed that Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher) is coming back — Earth 2 Reverse Flash, at least — and now a set photo leaked online teases the return of another thought-to-be-dead metahuman — Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell)!
The leaked photo, released by Canadian celebrity and TV gossip blog Canadagraphs, shows actor Robbie Amell sporting what appears to be a Firestorm costume, though his outfit is changed from his Season 1 incarnation. The caption from Canadagraphs claims the shot is of Amell in his Earth 2 Firestorm garb — Earth 1 Ronnie Raymond was supposedly killed during the black hole incident in the Season 1 finale. However, there is no official guarantee the shot is not still Earth 1 Ronnie Raymond having returned in some other capacity following his apparent death, or if the blog is mistaken and the shot is from "Legends of Tomorrow," the CW spinoff series in which Amell is set to reprise his role.

If the picture does, in fact, tease the return of Firestorm to "The Flash," the hero will join Reverse Flash on the list of characters killed in the Season 1 finale now making a comeback. The promo for the midseason premiere, released by the CW on Christmas Eve, reveals that Season 1's arch villain, Eobard Thawne (aka Reverse Flash), is making a return. In Season 1, Thawne took control of Harrison Wells' (Tom Cavanagh) body after he got stuck in the present timeline after traveling back in time to kill Barry's mother. As Wells, Thawne spent Season 1 training Barry until he was outed and eventually killed — erased from existence, to be exact — with a little help from Eddie (Rick Cosnett).
