Is ‘Flip Or Flop’ Over? How Real El Moussa Divorce Helped Show’s Success
While some fans of HGTV’s “Flip or Flop” were concerned about the fat of the real estate show when Christina and Tarek El Moussa announced their divorce in December, the couple’s split is reportedly what helped make the show successful. Since the couple was open about their personal lives on the series, people wanted to know more about the renovators.
“They were convinced when the news broke about their separating that it was going to hurt the show, especially as more details about their fighting and the nature of their relationship came out,” an insider told E! Online Tuesday. “Everyone thought it would be their last season, but ratings and ad sales for the show skyrocketed.”

The sixth season of “Flip or Flop” or currently airing and the former lovers are in the middle of filming Season 7, the publication noted.
While they no longer want to continue their personal relationship, the El Moussas want to keep working together. “We love filming. That's our job. We've been doing it a long time,” Tarek told “Today's” Joe Fryer in February. “We love releasing a good product for our fans and just had to fight through it and do the best we could and I think it turned out great.”
Christina echoed Tarek’s statement. “We have so much fun on set and we look forward to continuing the show,” she said on “Good Morning America” in February. “We met at work, so we worked together before we ever started dating.”
In fact, things improved since the couple separated. “Honestly, I'm doing really good. I'm in a really good place. The kids are really happy, they're healthy, Tarek and I are in a good spot. We have a lot of things that we're working on, cool things coming in the future, so we're just looking forward,” Christina told Entertainment Tonight Online Saturday. “Tarek and I have worked together about 10 years, and we're going to continue to work together. We're getting along really, really well right now.”
Tarek filed for divorce in January, a month after they announced their split. They have two children together: 6-year-old daughter Taylor and 1-year-old son Brayden.

“I think, honestly, it's just like letting go of past resentment and living in the future, and remembering that kids are the priority. And we are going to be in each other's lives for forever, so we just decided to put the past in the past and move on,” the 33-year-old mother told the website. “We both put the kids first. We just decided to really get on the same page and both make sure we're doing the best we can.”
The mother-of-two added about her children: “They are the biggest joy in my life and they are just happy, fun, amazing kids.”
