The coronavirus pandemic delayed the production of new episodes of several anime shows. The makers of “Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fifth Plate” announced that the delay will continue until July. “Food Wars!” Season 5, Episode 3 is now scheduled to air in July.

After airing two episodes, the anime went on an indefinite hiatus, and the official statement cited the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as the reason for the delay.

However, the makers did not reveal the date for the release of new episodes.

Now, the new official statement has confirmed that fans can expect “Food Wars!” Season 5, Episode 3 in July. However, the broadcast date will be announced at a later date.

Currently, BS11 and Tokyo MX are airing the episodes from “Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Fourth Plate," which is the fourth season of the anime series.

“Due to the effects of the spread of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the broadcast and streaming of the most recent series, “ Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma the Fifth Plate,” which started in April 2020, will be postponed to July, starting with the third episode.
Once the date is set, we will be announcing the new broadcast and streaming information on our official website and Twitter.
We sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience and disappointment this has caused. Thank you for your continuous support and kind understanding,” read the official statement.

“Food Wars!” Season 5, Episode 1 debuted on Friday (April 10). However, after the coronavirus crisis, episodes 3 and beyond were postponed.

Episode 2 showcased the announcement of the prestigious BLUE cooking competition by the World Gourmet Organization. Three students will be chosen to represent Totsuki at the BLUE tournament. Since the organization did not appoint the representatives, the academy conducted BLUE preliminaries to choose the representatives.

Elsewhere, Soma is excited about being a part of the team and represent the academy on a global platform.
