Former 'Real Housewives' Star NeNe Leakes Calls 'The View' Panel 'Very Shady' After Awkward Co-Hosting Gig
NeNe Leakes is no stranger to shade and when it's thrown her way, you can bet she's going to serve up a little extra. The former star of Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" recently filled in as guest co-host on ABC's "The View," sharing a cast photo after the show though one of the show's host's, Raven Symoné, was noticeably absent from the Instagram photo. During a recent interview, NeNe, 47, addressed the photo, her hosting gig and more.
As was reported by E! Online, during an appearance on Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live" host Andy Cohen questioned the star of Broadway's "Cinderella" about doing "The View." NeNe excitedly exclaimed that she would love to talk about her guest spot as co-host of the show, offering to spill the tea on anything and everything that went down. She told Cohen, 47, that she didn't feel welcomed by any of the ladies on the show, calling them "very shady" and revealing that she didn't even speak to any of them until she sat down on the panel. She said "they were not kind" throughout the taping and it showed on camera. The former reality star told Cohen, who began asking her to name names, it was not just one of "The View" hosts that mistreated her. He began guessing, calling out both Joy, 73, and Raven, 29, by name. NeNe shared with Cohen that she felt Joy was "throwing a lot of shade" and Raven consistently looked her up and down "real nasty-like."
"I didn't like that, because look, first of all, I was invited to their show. I was there to promote 'Chicago' and other things. They asked me to bring pictures of my home there, and I brought the pictures they asked me to bring. And they just weren't kind. They did not have nice manners. I know all of them are tired: their hairstyle are tired, their makeup is tired. Whatever," she said.
As was reported by Us Weekly, NeNe appeared on "The View" Nov. 17. As she mentioned during her discussion with Cohen, she was there to promote her role as Mama Morton in "Chicago." During the appearance NeNe, who called herself a "rich b---h" several times during her time on "RHOA," was asked to show off photos of her sprawling new home. While showing the photos Joy questioned her decision to show it off without furniture in it, which was uncomfortable for the panel, as well as those watching the show. She also questioned NeNe's decision to divorce and later remarry her husband Gregg Leakes, as well as her ties to presidential hopeful Donald Trump. After the comments about her political views NeNe fired back, telling Joy she never said she was "voting for" Trump and that she just "liked him." Following the live taping NeNe aired her grievances on Instagram, writing that she had "just sat down with a bunch of mean girls." The post was later deleted.
The cast of "The View," namely Joy and Raven, have not responded to NeNe's recent comments. Check out a clip from the reality star's "WWHL" appearance below:
