Gal Gadot opened up about her upcoming movie based on Egyptian queen Cleopatra. The 38-year-old actress revealed that the movie, "Cleopatra" will show how strategic and smart the ancient pharaoh truly was.

"I can't reveal a lot, but I can tell you that we're going to celebrate the Cleopatra story," she told Instyle on Tuesday. "We're going to show not just how sexy and appealing she was, but how strategic and smart."

The actress further explained that the biopic will also showcase "how much impact she [Cleopatra] had and still has on the world we're living in today."

During the interview, the actress was asked how she avoids snakes in her personal life, considering the fact that Cleopatra died due to a poisonous snake bite. "You try to choose the right people," Gadot replied.

It was announced in October 2020 that Gadot will portray Cleopatra and ever since, the actress has been receiving backlash from online users. Many people believed that the character should have been portrayed by an Arab or African actress.

Gadot responded to critics in December 2020 and said, "First of all, if you want to be true to the facts, then Cleopatra was Macedonian. We were looking for a Macedonian actress that could fit Cleopatra. She wasn’t there. And I was very passionate about Cleopatra."

Moreover, the "Wonder Woman" star shared that she got friends from around the world including Muslims, Christian, Catholics, Atheists, Buddhists, and Jewish.

"People are people," she added. "And with me, I want to celebrate the legacy of Cleopatra and honor this amazing historic icon that I admire so much."

Cleopatra is well-known for being the last ruler of the Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt. She served under Alexander the Great. Previously, the iconic character of Cleopatra was portrayed on-screen by Elizabeth Taylor in 1963 and the movie won four Academy Awards at that time.

Gadot will be seen next in the highly anticipated movie, "Death on the Nile," which will hit theaters on Feb. 11. The flick is based on author Agatha Christie's 1937 novel of the same title. Helmed by director Kenneth Branagh, the star-studded movie also features Russell Brand, Tom Bateman, Rose Leslie, Ali Fazal, Jennifer Saunders and Sophie Okonedo.
