‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Emilia Clarke Falls For A ‘Hunger Games’ Star In ‘Me Before You’ Trailer
Emilia Clarke is leaving her dragons behind for her new role. The “Game of Thrones” star’s next movie, “Me Before You,” is a modern day romance. The film’s trailer was released Wednesday and shows Clarke playing a decidedly un-Daenerys-like character.
Louisa (Clarke) isn’t sure what career path she wants, but a temp agency leads her to a caregiver job. Her client, Will (Sam Claflin), was recently paralyzed in a motorcycle accident and needs some help. Will doesn’t seem to like Louisa at first. “He hates me,” Louisa complains. “Every time I speak, he looks at me like I’m stupid.”
Yet, he quickly changes his mind. “You are pretty much the only thing that makes me want to get up in the morning,” he tells her. The two fall in love, but Will doesn’t plan to live long enough to experience happily ever after with Louisa.

Though the movie isn’t sci-fi, it stars plenty of actors from the genre. In addition to Clarke’s “Game of Thrones” background and Claflin’s “Hunger Games” credits, “Doctor Who” companion Jenna Coleman and Tywin Lannister actor Charles Dance are in the film. “Harry Potter” actor Matthew Lewis also stars as Louisa’s longtime boyfriend. “Downton Abbey” star Brendan Coyle, one of the only actors not from sci-fi projects, appears as well.
For Clarke, ditching the intensity of sci-fi storylines was ideal. “Literally, Daenerys doesn't smile, Sarah Connor doesn't smile,” Clarke explained to USA Today. “But here it was like, 'Can you smile more? Can you have a good time?' I'm not trying to kill anyone, no one is trying to kill me. It's fun.”
“Me Before You” is based on the book by JoJo Moyes, who also wrote the movie’s script with Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. The film is set to hit theaters June 3.
