  • Members of GameStop's loyalty program will receive unique codes

  • These expansion packs will contain unique NFTs related to the game

GameStop is including NFT trading cards in the virtual trading card game "Gods Unchained" under its loyalty program. This comes as the video game company continues to dive deeper into the crypto space.

Members of GameStop's PowerUp Rewards Pro program will be eligible for the perks tied to "Gods Unchained" as the web3 trading card game aims to bring the GameStop community into its ecosystem, GamesBeat, the gaming arm of VentureBeat, reported Wednesday.

The unique codes that will be provided to members can be used to redeem expansion packs in the game. These extension packs will reportedly contain unique NFTs related to "Gods Unchained."

GameStop's loyalty program members are expected to receive the codes on Sept. 27. Those who wish to receive the NFT trading cards will have to sign up for the loyalty program before that date.

"Competition and strategic gameplay sit at the center of 'Gods Unchained.' Not only will players tap into their skills to build their ultimate deck, the ability for true ownership of cards gives you the choice to acquire exactly what you need for your dream deck off the marketplace. That's one of the many reasons why 'Gods Unchained' appeals to highly skilled players looking for a new level of control, challenge and entertainment," Chris Clay, game director for "Gods Unchained," said in a statement provided to the outlet.

Clay, who thinks "this is the perfect time for GameStop PowerUp Pros to dive into the world of Gods Unchained," also assured everyone that additional announcements are on their way.

With this partnership, players of "Gods Unchained" will be able to build decks and engage in competitive multiplayer battles with friends and other players using the NFT trading cards.

It is also worth noting that while the cards will be made available to the members of the PowerUp Rewards Pro program, which costs around $14.99, they will not be exclusive to these users as they can be sold and bought as well.

GameStop's push into the NFT and blockchain industry is not limited to this partnership with "Gods Unchained." Recently, the video game company also struck a deal with crypto exchange FTX.
