Christmas in Port Charles will be a somber time for Jason, who has lost the love of his life and has been rejected by one of his sons. Although things are looking pretty dim for the former mob enforcer, on the Friday, Dec. 22 episode of “General Hospital,” Sonny may inspire Jason to try to save his relationship with Sam.

Although Sam (Kelly Monaco) has been upfront about her intentions to remain with Drew (Billy Miller) on the ABC soap, she just can’t seem to shake her fond memories of Jason (Steve Burton) and the happiness they once shared.

In the promo for the upcoming episode, Sonny (Maurice Bernard) and Carly (Laura Wright) have a serious talk with Michael (Chad Duell) about Nelle (Chloe Lanier) while Jason is present.

During their chat, Michael reiterates his desire to do what is right for his baby, but that he wants nothing to do with Nelle.

However, in the video, Sonny reminds Michael that he and Carly wouldn’t be together if it wasn’t for him. Nearby Jason listens in, and seems to be reflecting on his words while pondering his own feelings.

When Sonny and Carly first met years ago, they couldn’t really stand each other. When she ended up pregnant with Michael after a one night stand with A.J. Quartermaine, she and Sonny began to form a bond.

Once Michael was born, Sonny couldn’t let Carly go, because he felt the need to protect the little boy. Although they didn’t see eye to eye at first, they eventually fell in love.

While the two have split up numerous times in the past, they have always managed to find their way back to each other, and their love story would have never come to fruition if it wasn’t for Michael.

Sonny’s words about love and how he and Carly came to be may inspire Jason to put up one last fight for Sam, who he shares a son with.

In the previous episode, Jason and Sam navigated their way through Christmas day separately, running errands and visiting loved ones--but they had each other on the brain.

Although they were trying to focus on the holiday, both Sam and Jason had flashbacks of spending Christmas together in the penthouse and setting up their tiny tree.

While Sam has tried to avoid Jason because he makes her remember the love they once shared, it seems like her heart won’t let her forget all of the special moments and memories they made together.

“General Hospital” airs weekdays at 3 p.m. EST on ABC.
