KEY POINTS

  • Ningguang's skin will be free for everyone who participates in the Lantern Rite Festival
  • Keqing's skin will be available for a limited time as a premium store item
  • The skins are expected to release alongside the Lantern Rite event next year

The long-awaited skins for Keqing and Ningguang have finally been revealed during the recent Special Program hosted by miHoYo to celebrate the imminent release of “Genshin Impact” 2.4 and the game’s entry into the new year.

Keqing’s Opulent Splendor dress and the Orchid’s Evening Gown for Ningguang were revealed in the developer live stream, confirming earlier leaks and rumors surrounding the inclusion of additional skins for the game. The first pair of skins was initially introduced back in the Golden Apple Archipelago event, where Barbara and Jean received summer outfits.

The new party dress-like skins are themed according to Liyue’s annual Lantern Rite event and, as the Update 2.4 trailer suggests, the people of Liyue may also be celebrating the completion of Ningguang’s new Jade Chamber, following the destruction of the previous one during the events of the main storyline.

Players will be able to obtain Ningguang’s Orchid’s Evening Gown skin for free as a participation reward for the 2022 Lantern Rite Festival. On the other hand, Keqing’s Opulent Splendor skin will be available as a premium item in the in-game store, and it will only be available for a limited time, similar to how Jean’s premium skin was treated earlier this year.

Sadly, there were no in-game demonstrations of the skins in action, but if the previous pair of skins are to be considered, there will likely be no changes to any skill or attack effects, only the characters’ base models. Glimpses of how the skins look like in-game can be spotted in the “Genshin Impact” 2.4 Update trailer.

Ningguang’s gown appears to be modeled after the Glaze Lily, a flower found only in Liyue. According to in-game lore, the Glaze Lily is closely attributed to Guizhong, the Goddess of Dust, a character fans believe to be the original incarnation of Ningguang.

Meanwhile, Keqing’s dress bears some resemblance to Bronya’s Herrscher of Sentience attire from “Honkai Impact.” The two characters have very little in common, but this skin might be a reference to Keqing’s brief time in the “Honkai” universe as a crossover character.

Both skins are expected to go live around February, during the Lantern Rite Festival.
