George Clooney Feels 'Lucky' To Have His Family, Admits Children Were Unplanned
George Clooney is now a proud dad on top of being a happy husband, but the actor has admitted that he never thought he would have a family of his own.
In June, Clooney and wife Amal Clooney welcomed their twins, Alexander and Ella. But according to "The Monuments Men" star, they never talked about having children and were not planning to have any. But now, Clooney said he and his wife feel that they are lucky to have been blessed with their twins.
"It had never been part of my DNA," Clooney, 56, confessed to The Hollywood Reporter about having kids. "We didn't plan on it. We never talked about it until after we were married, which is funny. There was an assumption that we didn't want them. And then, after the wedding, Amal and I were talking and we just felt we'd gotten very lucky, both of us, and we should share whatever good luck we've got. It would seem self-centered to just have that belong to us."
The "Money Monster" actor added that Amal got pregnant without the help of any fertility medication. When they found out that they were expecting, it had been a pleasant surprise for them. But after learning that they were having twins, Clooney thought at first that it had been a mistake.
After welcoming their son and daughter, Clooney's life changed drastically as he now has to take on the new role of being a dad. For him, fatherhood is both emotional and scary. In another interview, Clooney confessed that being a dad has made him feel "much older," but he is also thankful to have his wife and kids by his side.
"Every single day of my life, I just feel lucky," Clooney told THR. "Lucky in my career. Lucky enough to have found the perfect partner. Sometimes in life it doesn't happen on your schedule, but you find the person that you were always supposed to be with. That's how I feel, and I know that's how Amal feels."
Earlier this month, Clooney confessed to Entertainment Tonight that he never thought he would be a father. "Honestly, I didn't think I'd be married with two kids!" the "Ocean's Eleven" star said with a laugh.
Despite this, Clooney doesn't miss his bachelor years. He told THR that he is happier to hear the cries of his babies. He added that though he and his wife are constantly sleep-deprived these days, he has also developed new skills like being efficient in changing diapers.
