George Clooney has opened up about how falling in love with wife Amal Clooney completely changed his life and his perception of marriage.

Speaking in an interview for GQ’s Men of the Year issue, the 59-year-old Oscar-winning actor shared some details about his relationship with Amal and how his motorcycle accident in 2018 reminded him that life is precious.

While discussing his love life, Clooney admitted that he never wanted to get married again until he met Amal in 2013. The actor added that he just wanted to concentrate on work and his loved ones after his divorce from his first wife, Talia Balsam, in 1993.

“I’m gonna work, I’ve got great friends, my life is full, I’m doing well. And I didn’t know how un-full it was until I met Amal,” Clooney told GQ.

However, things quickly took a U-turn and Clooney realized that Amal was the one that he was looking for. The star also explained that his marriage has changed him in the “simplest way” possible.

“I was like, ‘Oh, actually, this has been a huge empty space.’ Because I’d never been in a position where someone else’s life was infinitely more important to me than my own, you know? And then tack on two more individuals, who are small and have to be fed,” Clooney said of his wife and their 3-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander.

The “Tomorrowland” actor proposed to Amal in April 2014 and shared all the details on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

“I got down on my knee and I said, 'I couldn't imagine spending the rest of my life without you,'” Clooney revealed.

The two got married in Italy in September 2014 in a ceremony that included guests Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The event lasted three days and Clooney flew 100 cases of his own brand of tequila, Casamigos, for his wedding.

In the GQ interview, Clooney also opened up about his frightening motorcycle accident in 2018 in Italy. Reflecting on the scary incident, the actor recalled thinking “that was it” and that he would never be able to see his children again.

“When I hit the ground, my mouth — I thought all my teeth were broken out. But it was glass from the windshield. I launched. I go head over heels. But I landed on my hands and knees,” he revealed. “If you did it 100 times, maybe once you land on your hands and knees, and any other version you land, you're toast. It knocked me out of my shoes. Although my kids were like a year old, and mostly it was just the thought that this was it and that I wasn't gonna see them again.”

The actor was taken to a hospital after suffering minor injuries.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Clooney will be next seen in the movie “The Midnight Sky.” The film tells the story of a lonely scientist named Augustine (Clooney), who races to stop Sully (Felicity Jones) and her team of fellow astronauts from returning home to a global catastrophe.

“The Midnight Sky” will be available for streaming on Netflix on Dec. 23.
