George Clooney Says He And Amal Will Move To Marital Home In England
George Clooney and his human rights lawyer wife Amal are getting ready to relocate to Sonning, England. The Hollywood actor revealed his plans in an interview with Ross King on “Good Morning Britain.” The couple bought the house in October 2014 just a month after they got married.
“We’ve got a house there, we’re fixing it up. We’re going to be moving in at the end of the summer, and we’re really excited,” he said. The Hollywood heartthrob said he loves the house and they would have a great time. He said the village, located in Berkshire, has an old pub and a great restaurant, the French Horn, near their house, according to Hello.
The multimillion-dollar manor house on the River Thames is Grade II listed, indicating it has historic or architectural significance. The nine-bedroom house has a library, gym, spa and steam room, along with a cellar and a boathouse; there is a separate cottage for guests or staff. It is set on 4 acres of land, surrounded by trees and gardens, offering the A-list couple seclusion and privacy.
The couple are believed to have had a swimming pool and pool house added to the property, along with a large terrace and a private cinema. Clooney was reportedly attracted to the area after visiting the nearby Buckinghamshire village of Fingest while making the 2014 film “The Monuments Men.” The area is aptly suited for Amal, who works in London.
Last Christmas, Clooney delighted British TV audiences when he made a cameo appearance in a charity version of the hugely popular “Downton Abbey.” Asked about a possible return to the series, the Oscar winner told the host that he had thought about it a lot and since he had nearly destroyed the “Batman” franchise, he could hurt that series if he made a comeback. He jokingly added that they have asked him not to come back.
British fans will now be hoping that Clooney is able to spend a considerable amount of time in the U.K. despite the demands of his Hollywood career. The village and its residents are getting ready to welcome their new high-profile residents. The couple would be moving into their new home seven months after they bought it.
