‘The Good Place’ Creator Michael Schur Teases Season 1’s Final Four Episodes

Michael (Ted Danson), Chidi (William Jackson Harper), Tahani (Jameela Jamil) and Jianyu (Manny Jacinto) will all try their best to keep fake Eleanor (Kristen Bell) away from the Bad Place in the final four episodes of “The Good Place.”

In a recent interview with TVLine, series creator Michael Schur said that the next episodes following the show’s hiatus are “about the Good Place crew trying desperately to figure out any kind of argument they can make about why [fake] Eleanor should stay [in their neighborhood] before the mysterious Shawn shows up to lay down a ruling.”

The name Shawn was first mentioned in Season 1, Episode 9, and TVLine confirmed that Shawn is an “all-knowing demigod” that inhabits the world of the NBC fantasy comedy series.

While the main storyline of the remaining episodes centers on fake Eleanor’s fight for her eternal soul, Schur revealed that there are also some interesting subplots sprinkled in the latter part of the season.

For instance, fake Eleanor is going to find herself in the middle of what Schur calls “the weirdest love triangle of all time.” The two other characters involved in this love triangle are Chidi and real Eleanor (Tiya Sircar), who happens to be his true soulmate.

Schur also revealed that Janet (D'Arcy Carden) will finally come back online at some point in the remaining episodes of the season. Janet was accidentally “murdered” by Chidi in Season 1, Episode 7 after Eleanor planned to “kill” her to stop Michael from retiring. Because of what happened, Janet’s memory was wiped out.

As for why it takes a while before Janet is completely rebooted, Schur said: “She’s re-uploading all of the knowledge of the universe, and that takes a little while.”
