‘The Good Place’ Season 2, Episode 6 Video: Chidi Raps About Kierkegaard
Chidi thinks about writing a rap musical about philosopher Soren Kierkegaard in this week’s episode of “The Good Place.”
In a sneak peek from Season 2, episode 6 of the NBC series, Chidi (William Jackson Harper) tells Eleanor (Kristen Bell) that he’s planning to write a rap musical about Kierkegaard in an attempt to make Michael (Ted Danson) a better person. But Eleanor thinks that it’s a “terrible” idea.
“Michael is not going to learn how to be a good person overnight,” Eleanor tells Chidi. “He’s not even a person. He’s just a bunch of evil shoved up the butt of an evil mannequin. Teaching him to be good is like teaching me how to be not hot. How would you even do it? … I don’t even know. I can’t picture it because I’ve been hot my whole life.”
While Chidi can’t turn Michael into a good person in a short span of time, Eleanor believes that he can do it eventually. “I believe in you, nerd boy,” Eleanor tells Chidi. “If you can teach me and Jason ethics, you can teach anybody.”
Just when Eleanor thinks that Chidi has let go of the idea of making a rap musical, he surprises her and busts out a few rhymes, “My name is Kierkegaard and my writing is impeccable. Check out my teleological suspension of the ethical.”
Apparently, Eleanor isn’t pleased with what she’s heard, prompting Chidi to say: “No, right? I feel like [it’s a] no when I was doing it.”
Instead of writing a rap musical, Chidi tackles a famous ethical dilemma during his class with the rest of Team Cockroach. However, despite his great effort, the topic of their discussion still leads to a conflict with Michael.
Elsewhere in the upcoming episode, according to the synopsis for the installment, Tahani (Jameela Jamil) harbors a secret and confides in Janet (D’Arcy Carden).
Is Tahani secretly pregnant? As viewers saw in Season 2, episode 5, Tahani ended up sleeping with Jason following a birthday party in the neighborhood.
“The Good Place” Season 2, episode 6, titled “The Trolley Problem,” airs on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 8:30 p.m. EDT on NBC.
