Google Pixel 4 XL Might Do Away With The Notch
Leaked renders of the Google Pixel 4 XL smartphone give away many of its physical features, foremost of which appears to be the absence of the notorious notch that started with the iPhone X in 2017.
Obviously, the leaks about Google’s Pixel devices just won’t stop coming. Previous leaks showed how thin the Google Pixel 4 smartphone’s bezels will be, and how likely it will be for the device to have the beloved 3.5mm headphone jack, among other features
Now, a new leak coming from reliable tipster @OnLeaks and Indian blog Pricebaba reveals gorgeous 5K renders and a 360-degree video of the upcoming Pixel 4 XL smartphone.
No notch!
According to the renders, the Pixel 4 XL will employ a different design compared to the latest iPhones and Samsung Galaxy S10 models. It will have two selfie cameras, but won’t have a notch or punch hole. Instead of these, the Pixel 4 XL will have a thick bezel on top. The bezel will also house the earpiece as well as two sensors, the purposes of which remain unknown at the moment.
Despite having a thick bezel on top, the bezels on the left, right and bottom are all thin, allowing the Pixel 4 XL to have a tall aspect ratio, and a display that measures 6.25 inches.
According to OnLeaks, there appears to be a hollow area on the right side of the thick bezel on top, right next to the earpiece. This area could be used for the Soli chip that will allow users to use the smartphone without having to touch the display. Alternatively, the hollow area could also be used for another feature like a “Face ID-type module.”
Other specs
The Pixel 4 XL is said to come in a body that measures 160.4mm long, 75.2mm wide and 8.2mm thick. The thickness around the camera bump, however, is expected to be around 9.3mm. The back of the smartphone is said to be made from crafted glass, and the camera bump is expected to house the cameras which will be laid in a triangular formation.
The power and volume control buttons are located at the right side of the phone, whereas the USB Type-C port and speakers are located at the bottom. Unlike what previous reports said, however, this new render shows the lack of the 3.5mm headphone jack.
