Cardi B is putting the spotlight on the independent Black artists who have been nominated in the 2021 Grammys but seem to have been "overshadowed" by the drama surrounding the awards show.

Several artists, including The Weeknd and Drake, criticized the Grammy Awards following the reveal of the latest list of nominees, with the former even calling it "corrupt." Weighing in on the boycott drama Saturday, the "WAP" hitmaker urged her fans to congratulate the deserving but lesser-known artists who received nods this year.

"How I feel bout the Grammies," Cardi wrote alongside a lengthy statement addressing the 2021 Grammys drama. "Don’t forget to congratulate the small black artist that got nominated that got overshadowed again cause of the drama. It’s their moment finally!"

In her note, Cardi acknowledged that there were "some albums and songs that should have been considered for nominations," adding she hopes that the awards-giving body would "get it right" by next year. But she also pointed out the artists and work she believes deserved their Grammy nods this year.

"However let’s not forget the Grammys nominated soo many independent Black artists this year that don’t get the exposure by blogs, magazines and other award shows like Chika, D Smoke, Royce 5’9, Freddie Gibbs, Jay Electronica, Kaytranada, Brittany Howard, Mykal Kilgor, Ledisi, Jean & Marcus Baylor, Luke James, Gregory Porter, Giveon, Ant Clemons, Robert Grasper, Free Nationals & Thundercat and so much more," she wrote.

"It's frustrating sometimes to work and work on your craft and you feel overlooked because you might not look like others, are not mixxy so you not always around other artists, you rap or sing about different materials, you stay out of drama and the media or yet still not as popular however youre talented a-- f--k and one day you wake up and you find out youre nominated and got a notice from one of the biggest award shows purely cause of your TALENT!" she continued.

Cardi encouraged others not to forget about these artists as it's their moment as well and they have been working hard to get where they are without the same exposure bigger names get. "Let's not overshadow it with feelings cause your favorite might not be on the list," she added.

"Congrats guys and good luck on the Grammys. You deserve it," the rapper concluded.

This comes after several big names in music, including The Weeknd, Drake and Zayn Malik, spoke negatively about the awards show following the announcement of the 2021 Grammy nominees.

The Weeknd said in a statement to The New York Times Thursday that he will no "longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys." When asked why he was boycotting the awards show, he said that it was was "because of the secret committees."
