‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Firefighter Spinoff: Ben, Bailey To Break Up In ABC Series?
“Grey’s Anatomy” star Jason George’s character, Ben, will no longer be part of the hit ABC series because he has been cast in the yet-to-be-titled firefighter spinoff.
With Ben and Bailey (Chandra Wilson) no longer working at Grey Sloan hospital together, the couple’s relationship could be put at risk. While speaking with TV Line at Entertainment Weekly’s pre-Emmy bash over the weekend, George said that he still doesn’t have any idea how Bailey will react to Ben’s decision.
But the actor is confident that sometime in the future, Bailey and Ben will reunite in a possible crossover between the two shows. “I think kind of along the lines of what happened with ‘Private Practice’ and ‘Grey’s,” he said. If it were up to George, he wants to see the couple talking about how their days were at home.
In the end, the actor just wants Ben and Bailey to continue fighting for their marriage and not split up. “I’ve come to really love their relationship. I’m proud of it. They’re [adult] people with [adult] problems who work it out no matter what,” he said.
Ben and Bailey became a couple in “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 9. With all of the years that passed, George said that he can’t imagine his character cheating on his wife. “It would have to be crazy amounts of arguments,” he said. And Ben will only cheat on Bailey if he gets to pair with Halle Berry. Of course, George was just joking.
Meanwhile, the official title for the “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff hasn’t been announced by ABC yet. But the main characters from the new series will be introduced during an episode of the Ellen Pompeo-starrer. Before working with the Seattle firefighters, Ben will first be seen in a few episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 14, according to Deadline.
By the looks of it, Ben and Bailey will have important conversations in those installments about his plans to work as a firefighter or with the fire department and not with his former colleagues.
“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 14 will premiere on ABC on Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. EDT.
