'Grey's Anatomy' Stars Say Farewell To Cristina Yang Actress Sandra Oh
Many fans of “Grey’s Anatomy” are sad to see Sandra Oh and her character, Dr. Cristina Yang, leave the hit ABC show. But they’re not the only ones. Some of Oh's cast mates shared with TV Guide their favorite moments with the television star, who has been on the show since it started in 2005.
One of the best mini-screen duos is the relationship between Dr. Meredith Grey and Cristina. Ellen Pompeo, who plays the title role, revealed that their friendship transcended the script.
"The Cristina-Meredith scene that will always stick with me is Sandra and I roaming through the forest in Big Bear, looking for Cristina Yang's shoe,” she said. “We've kicked some serious acting ass together. I am very proud of the work we've done together over the last decade."
Most fans know the show won’t be the same without Oh, and her cast mates are going to feel a similar void, Justin Chambers, who plays Dr. Alex Karev, explained. Even though she will be missed, the actor said he knows her future will hold more opportunities after “Grey's Anatomy.”
"It's going to be completely bizarre," Chambers said. "It's going to be a huge hole for us because she's such a huge part of Grey's. Her intelligence and talent is felt, and it ripples throughout the show. So, not having her here, we're really going to feel it. I'm excited for her. She's so talented. There's going to be great stuff for her in the future."
Even though Oh and Patrick Dempsey, who plays Dr. Derek Shepherd, have been on the show together for a decade, one of his best memories with her was formed this year. Since she and Dempsey have known each other for some time, they were able to open up during Season 10.
"One of my favorite moments with Sandra actually came from this season, when we sat down and had a really nice conversation reflecting on the past 10 years," the star said. “She has a tremendous work ethic that was always inspiring."
