Will Poulter responded to the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" movie director, James Gunn on Twitter, thanking him for casting him as Marvel superhero, Adam Warlock.

"Thank you, James. It’s a genuine honor to play this role and to work with you," he replied to Gunn's tweet Tuesday. "I’m very excited to get to work."

The 55-year-old director confirmed via Twitter Monday that Poulter will soon be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portraying the role of Adam Warlock in the upcoming installment of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise.

Gunn further praised the 28-year-old actor and wrote, "He's an amazing actor and wonderful guy. See you in a couple of weeks."

Since the director confirmed the news, many fans shared positive reactions to the casting decision.

One of the fans wrote, "A+ casting, James. This dude is the real deal," to which the director replied, "He really is something incredible."

Earlier this year, Gunn announced the release date and dropped the logo of the highly anticipated movie.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" was first released in 2014. The second installment of the sci-fi action movie was dropped three years later, in 2017.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" is currently under pre-production and is slated to release on May 5, 2023. The movie stars Dave Bautista, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper.

The third installment of the movie will mark the 10th release of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Four, after "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" and "The Marvels."

Poulter is currently working on a TV series, "Why Didn't They Ask Evans?" which is based on Agatha Christie's novel of the same name. He will also feature in another TV series, "Dopesick," which will air on Hulu from Wednesday.

Gunn, on the other hand, is in the process of filming TV series, "Peacemaker," which is slated to release next year in January. The series stars Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, John Cena and Freddie Stroma.

The director will also release a special TV movie, "The Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special," which is under pre-production.
