Gwen Stefani-Blake Shelton Update: ‘The Voice’ Producer Talks Couple Finding Love On NBC Show, Hopes To Receive Wedding Invitation
Mark Burnett, the producer of NBC’s “The Voice,” couldn’t be happier that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani found love while filming Season 9. Shelton and Stefani started dating in November, after ending their respective marriages.
“People go through peaks and valleys and light and dark times in their life,” he told Us Weekly at the Primetime Emmy Awards Sunday night. “So you always have to hope there is light in their journeys. In the case of Blake and Gwen, both have had some dark times emotionally in their relationships.”
Shelton split from fellow country singer Miranda Lambert in July after four years of marriage, and Stefani ended her 13-year marriage to Gavin Rossdale in August. “They had no idea by coming to work on a fun music show they would find the loves of their life,” Burnett continued. “And their life exploded and they are happier than you could imagine and we are all thrilled to be their friends and see their happiness.”
The TV producer went on to tell Us Weekly that he’s “really really hoping” Shelton and Stefani invite him to their wedding. Although the No Doubt singer and Shelton aren’t engaged just yet, the couple reportedly hired a wedding planner to help them start mapping out their future nuptials. TMZ reported last month that the couple tapped celebrity event planner Jerri Woolworth for her expertise on putting the wedding together.
People magazine also reported that Shelton and Stefani’s friends are sure an engagement is going to happen soon. Sources told the outlet that the “Sangria” singer plans on popping the question to Stefani during an upcoming trip to Mammoth Lakes in California or during a vacation to Aspen, Colorado. “Naturally, she’ll say yes,” the source said. “They’ve been talking about getting married for months.”
